Thank You Mr. President

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

I saw a CNN story today that made me proud of our president. He said that he will take responsibility for the fubar situation of AIG and… hold on, you need the quote because it was that good:

“For everybody in Washington who is busy scrambling trying to figure out how to blame somebody else, just go ahead and talk to me, because it’s my job to make sure that we fix these messes even if I don’t make them,” ~ President Obama

Let me tell you what I love about this. Today at lunch someone was telling me how this wasn’t so and so’s fault and blah blah and I’m like dude someone just needs to take responsibility and quit trying to pass the blame to everyone else. That let’s blame anyone but me bullshit just drives me nuts. Obama did that, he didn’t try to blame this politician, that banker, this CEO. He said there were mistakes now we’ll fix them. He goes on to talk about the need to change the culture of the financial districts and that’s all good too.

Mostly though, him just saying yeah…we let them have bonuses and ultimately I’m (him) in charge of the we so blame me makes him awesome in my book. Rock on Mr. Responsibility with your good role model self.

Rehab

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

It’s possible that farewell was too strong a word.  Maybe I should have said…I’m going into blogger rehab don’t comment, it’s too much like getting a hit or a drink or whatever the hell it is you aren’t allowed to have when you’re in rehab.  But I didn’t and y’all did and I keep coming back so I guess I’ll keep giving it away for free.  My grandma would be so disappointed that her ‘don’t give the milk for free’ speech didn’t stick.  Anywho.  I’m still ditching the other one because I can’t find my focus so don’t go over there and try to talk me out of it.  I mean it.

So…I picked a bad time to quit anyway, right?  I mean it almost killed me not to do something on the inauguration…like when they screwed up the swearing in..or THE hat (OMG not political but geesh)…or Obama having to go through the swearing in again just to shut some half brained nut jobs from being all pissy.  Or how happy I was and how choked up I got (I can be such a girl).

So anywho…I guess I fell off the wagon and will now be back to posting semi regularly, as work and my motivation/irritation with the government permit.

Farewell

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

I haven’t been posting a lot lately and that is due to an increase in work elsewhere.  As much as I love my blog I know that it is no longer my priority and instead of doing a half ass job of it I’m going to be leaving.  I’ll still be visiting some of my favorite blogs here but this one will become inactive (unless the ptb decide to give it to someone else.)

Besides there are waaaaay better political blogs out there and I’ll just comment on them when I’m feeling politically snarky.  Speaking of other blogs you should totally check out now that I’m not here.

CIA Director Panetta

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

Dude was Clinton’s budget director, a political animal, and a chief of staff which makes him qualified how, exactly, to run an intelligence agency??  Ok…he’s supposed to have integrity, which is good and he’s supposedly pretty likeable and he’s all for bipartisanship but, I dunno.  He just doesn’t seem all that qualified.

I can understand Obama not wanting to pick anyone who has/had ties with Bush, I really do because of how screwed up everything was/is.  BUT that doesn’t mean that he has to go all the way out in the middle of oddville to find someone.  I guess I’d feel better if the person he chose had some sort of intelligence experience or, heck I’d settle for military experience.

Someone tell me I’m wrong and why this guy is a perfect fit, please?

Obama Leaving Chicago

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

I think it is really sweet that Obama is somewhat sentimental.  Most men I know just aren’t.  In the news reports about his farewell to his home in Chicago he admitted to getting choked up when looking around the empty house that he has raised his family in.

I’m sure he and his family will make the White House into a loving home (pretty cool to think of kids playing there) but it will never be the same for them.  Then I was wondering if he’d be able to go back and live there after his eight years and I can’t imagine it.  Once a president I would think you’d always need protection/seclusion and what not but then maybe I’m wrong and people don’t care about you once you are out of office.

Anywho.  It was nice to see the softer side of Mr. Serious.

Is Obama Hot?

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

So I was just busy doing my Christmas thing and work thing and then someone told me to write a post so here I am.  Not working and not Christmasing…oh my.

Right, so about Obama’s hotness.  Oddly I hadn’t really thought about it much because well…he was a presidential candidate and they aren’t hot.  Right?  Well at least not in my lifetime.  I suppose Kennedy was pretty hot if you like the preppy pretty boy type(not really my thing most of the time) but we’re talking about Obama.(not sure what it is but the brooding thing works for him and is it just me or does anyone else see a bit of bad boy?)  So I saw this post and realized dude isn’t hard on the eyes.  Who’d have thought? (Yup..I’m oblivious sometimes)

What in the name of little pink bunnies does this have to do with anything remotely serious?  Well it’s like this…attractive people are treated better.  It’s true and it doesn’t make me shallow, so hush.  Point being look at GWB and look at BHO and tell me who *just looking at them* inspires you more? Exactly…so just on looks alone he should improve our standing around the world and make people like us more and want to blow us up less.  ::cough::

Back to the original question :)  Is Obama hot and more importantly do you think it matters?

So Completely Out

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

Of time, if you were wondering.  I’ve been busy with work (eek) and family stuff.  For those of you even moderately interested, the little one is turning one on Saturday (awwww), dad has had doc appointments coming out of his ears (I’m like a Taxi but with slightly better driving skills) Christmas is coming and I’m having two sides of the family over (I may never recover) and hubby gave up his WoW addiction and … well he’s more fun to spend time with than my blog ;)  So where does that leave my little bloggies??  Probably mostly out in the cold till my New Years resolutions kick in and I start blogging on all four daily (a girl has to dream).   Besides who needs my pithy political posts when you have real news watchers like Rhino and News Today and occasionally Right is Wrong ;)

So if I’m not around as much for the next week or two don’t write me off completely, I’ll be back on a more regular basis around the first….well till I go to Cali on the 8th.  Hmmm…

I’m Cancelling Happy

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

Why?  Well….it’s kind of a long and depressing story so if you don’t like that sort of thing go away and come back tomorrow.

Someone I liked a great deal died this week.  I was going to say friend but we weren’t really to the point of friendship yet, I don’t suppose.  She was someone I worked with and was beginning to chat with regularly.  She was sarcastic, intelligent, evil, opinionated, brutally honest, fair, funny, and had a potty mouth to match my own.  Hard not to like someone like that.  So yeah.  I can’t even believe how depressed I’ve been over the last few days since I found out about her death and I’ve decided it pretty much sucks that most of the people I really like I’ll probably never meet.  She and I had actually talked about how cool it is that you can meet people who think like you through the internet when it is so hard to find those same types of people where you live…

So how this has anything to do with my blog other than letting me whine publically is that she liked my writing style best when I was being snarky with a touch of bitch. You know honesty being myself and all that and this forced happy political news thing isn’t me.  I was struggling to do it without being snarky and so I’m cancelling happy.  Don’t worry too much I’m still feeling holidayish just not in regards to our government…maybe I’ll start keeping up with my spiritual blog for any excessive happiness I happen to encounter.

PS

Don’t say you’re sorry or any of the other usual things people say when someone is upset.  Half of them piss me off the other half would make me cry.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Looks like Bill managed to come to an agreement that will allow Hillary to become secretary of state.  I think this is great news for a number of reasons.  One, I think it nice that two people who fought against each other for so long can now work together.  Two, it’s nice to see Bill stepping away from his work to support his wife after all of the years she did the same for him.  I know it can’t be easy for him to step away from his foundation but the fact that he is willing to do so his wife can further her career is just sweet.  All around goodness from Obama picking a former rival to hubby standing behind the little woman.

PS

I was all worried about finding something good for today and when I logged on this morning this story was on my yahoo page.  Yahoooooo.
