Blocking Burris

Published by eclecticbird at 6:31 pm under Issues Edit This

So the allegedly corrupt Gov Blagojevich appointed Roland Burris to fill Obama’s Senate seat.  I have several problems with this.  First, Blagojevich has no business appointing anyone.  He should, at the very least, realize that anyone he does appoint is going to appear to be corrupt as well.  It doesn’t matter that nothing has been proven yet, and it doesn’t matter if the guy he appoints is clean.  What matters is appearance.

As for Burris.  He should have had the nerve to tell Blagojevich to go blow himself and turned down the offer until the charges against him were proven one way or the other.  The fact that he accepted makes me think he’s dirty too.  And again, it doesn’t even matter if he is or not…it’s all about perception.

So yeah, I think the Democrats should block him and I don’t think he should get to be senator, ever.  He should have said no.

But what do you say about Obama’s guys in all of this? They had to know all of this was going on. Rahm Emmanuel was just as complicit in this deal as the governor is. They had better let Blagojevich appoint someone and get this thing done or it’s going to blow up in Obama. I voted for Obama and I have a hard time believing that he did not know something about this. He needs to tell the Senate to seat Burris and get this deal over or it’s going to cost him down the line. I don’t think we need Blagojevich talking very much. He’s going to complicate things very much for all involved!

Things are really getting good now. Later on, we’ll find out Burris had a baby with a man wearing an eyepatch. But it turns out the baby was switched at birth with Tripp Palin! And then Jesse Jackson Jr. will try to kill him!
