20ish Days

Published by eclecticbird under Issues Edit This

Only 20ish days before our new President is able to take over…office. I’m pretty excited. I can’t wait to see what changes are rolled out in the first few weeks. I don’t know about everyone else but I’m as excited as a kid before Christmas (and for you non Christmas fans don’t get all snarky you know what I mean). Anywho….I’m hopeful that I’ll have happier things (at least some of the time) things to blog about for the next four/eight years :)
Is anyone going to the inauguration? If so, please share pics and send me links so I can live vicariously through you. ():o)

PS
Have a happy and safe New Year’s Eve!

Is Obama Hot?

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

So I was just busy doing my Christmas thing and work thing and then someone told me to write a post so here I am.  Not working and not Christmasing…oh my.

Right, so about Obama’s hotness.  Oddly I hadn’t really thought about it much because well…he was a presidential candidate and they aren’t hot.  Right?  Well at least not in my lifetime.  I suppose Kennedy was pretty hot if you like the preppy pretty boy type(not really my thing most of the time) but we’re talking about Obama.(not sure what it is but the brooding thing works for him and is it just me or does anyone else see a bit of bad boy?)  So I saw this post and realized dude isn’t hard on the eyes.  Who’d have thought? (Yup..I’m oblivious sometimes)

What in the name of little pink bunnies does this have to do with anything remotely serious?  Well it’s like this…attractive people are treated better.  It’s true and it doesn’t make me shallow, so hush.  Point being look at GWB and look at BHO and tell me who *just looking at them* inspires you more? Exactly…so just on looks alone he should improve our standing around the world and make people like us more and want to blow us up less.  ::cough::

Back to the original question :)  Is Obama hot and more importantly do you think it matters?

Cartoon Time!

Published by eclecticbird under Fun Edit This

I know, I know….the shoe schtick has been done to death in the blogging arena but I couldn’t help myself.  It’s Christmasish and it’s funny, I had to do it.  Little elves are sitting here right now with a candy cane pointed at my head and are threatening to make me eat fruitcake if I don’t post it.   What’s a girl to do??  Seriously though….nah who wants to do serious.

If you could fill the stocking of little George (and money/size didn’t matter) what would he find Christmas morning??  If you are feeling wordy give me the reason why behind the stocking stuffer….or I could guess, but that can be dangerous.

So Completely Out

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

Of time, if you were wondering.  I’ve been busy with work (eek) and family stuff.  For those of you even moderately interested, the little one is turning one on Saturday (awwww), dad has had doc appointments coming out of his ears (I’m like a Taxi but with slightly better driving skills) Christmas is coming and I’m having two sides of the family over (I may never recover) and hubby gave up his WoW addiction and … well he’s more fun to spend time with than my blog ;)  So where does that leave my little bloggies??  Probably mostly out in the cold till my New Years resolutions kick in and I start blogging on all four daily (a girl has to dream).   Besides who needs my pithy political posts when you have real news watchers like Rhino and News Today and occasionally Right is Wrong ;)

So if I’m not around as much for the next week or two don’t write me off completely, I’ll be back on a more regular basis around the first….well till I go to Cali on the 8th.  Hmmm…

Blagojevich and Drescher

Published by eclecticbird under Issues Edit This

I was going to do a bit on Fran Drescher wanting to become the NY senator but that seemed obvious…then the headline about the Illinois governor selling off Obama’s senate seat to the highest bidder made me rethink my stance on the obvious.

Fran first.  I so want her to get the NY seat.  I mean really, I could use a laugh or two and a buttoned up politician isn’t going to do it for me.  Seriously…could she be any worse than some of the people in office now?  I know…RR is probably having some sort of seizure just thinking about it but I’m a bit more lighthearted in my take on politics and I’m always for an outsider on the inside.

Now for Gov. Blagojevich…wow.  How does someone so stupid make it into office?  I think he’s a great example of why we need fewer politicians and more actresses :)

What is wrong with people?

Published by eclecticbird under Issues Edit This

As in why is there an overwhelming public majority against the auto industry bailout?  Are you heartless?  Stupid?  Selfish?  If it’s another reason, please enlighten me because that is about all I can think of.  People whined about wanting help for ‘Main Street’ instead of “Wall Street” and here it is.  Landed nicely in your lap with the added bonus of rich guys begging and people are all “nope, we want you to fall on your face”.  I got it for the BBQ bailout…I was against it.  It wasn’t well thought out and it didn’t seem  like they had a real idea of who they were helping (turns out I was sooooo right about that).  But this is different.  The bailout would benefit all of the ‘little people’ whose jobs are going to go the way of the dinosaur if we let these companies fail.  And don’t think I just mean the people who work building the cars.  Nope…what about the business in the towns the factories are in.  The mom and pop grocery stores, diners, furniture stores, gas stations etc that are going to go belly up when all of the people who were at the factory have to move and find new jobs (right, like that’s going to happen in this economy).  And in case you are thinking of telling me it isn’t going to be that bad just shut it.  It will be that bad.  It will probably be worse than bad.  Hell, it might be worse than bad even if they do bail out the companies the way we are sinking but without the bail out there won’t even be life boats around.  It’ll be the freaking Titanic…you saw that movie right?  People drowning in icy water because they were too flipping retarded to swap off on the boat (hated that movie).  Random…point is we have to help the other people in the water or people are going to die (financially, for those of you who are even more literal than I am).  Which brings me back to my original question of…what is wrong with you people?!?!  60% say no bailout…who are you and what are your freaking reasons?

I’m Cancelling Happy

Published by eclecticbird under Barack Obama Edit This

Why?  Well….it’s kind of a long and depressing story so if you don’t like that sort of thing go away and come back tomorrow.

Someone I liked a great deal died this week.  I was going to say friend but we weren’t really to the point of friendship yet, I don’t suppose.  She was someone I worked with and was beginning to chat with regularly.  She was sarcastic, intelligent, evil, opinionated, brutally honest, fair, funny, and had a potty mouth to match my own.  Hard not to like someone like that.  So yeah.  I can’t even believe how depressed I’ve been over the last few days since I found out about her death and I’ve decided it pretty much sucks that most of the people I really like I’ll probably never meet.  She and I had actually talked about how cool it is that you can meet people who think like you through the internet when it is so hard to find those same types of people where you live…

So how this has anything to do with my blog other than letting me whine publically is that she liked my writing style best when I was being snarky with a touch of bitch. You know honesty being myself and all that and this forced happy political news thing isn’t me.  I was struggling to do it without being snarky and so I’m cancelling happy.  Don’t worry too much I’m still feeling holidayish just not in regards to our government…maybe I’ll start keeping up with my spiritual blog for any excessive happiness I happen to encounter.

PS

Don’t say you’re sorry or any of the other usual things people say when someone is upset.  Half of them piss me off the other half would make me cry.

Chambliss Wins Georgia

Published by eclecticbird under Republican Edit This

Hush my little lefties it is my blog and if I want to say that a Republican winning an election is good news then I’m allowed.  While I don’t actually care overmuch who won that actual election I am happy that they’ve finally decided who the winner is.  I mean really it’s been a month, it’s about time.

Now before anyone spoils my happy moment complaining about a republican (you know who you are) just remember the happy news isn’t that he won it is that someone finally won.  Silver lining and all that…rainbow in the middle of the flood…

It’s a Recession

Published by eclecticbird under Issues Edit This

It is official, we are in a recession and have been for about a year.  This is your good news for the day?  I was doubtful to but this article put a spin on it I kind of like…if they are right.  Now we can stop saying we might be in a recession or there is a coming recession etc. and we can focus on the recovery process.  That sounds a bit more chipper to me.  They point out that most of the recessions our country has experienced lasted only about 10 months so while this has been a long one it should be coming to an end (everyone cross your fingers).

So.  My good news is more of hopeful news.  I’m more hopeful now that the economic crisis is going to be a past tense expression soon (relatively) and that our economy will start growing again *based on clean technology…a girl can hope* Of course Paulson said something to the effect of duh and it still sucks but he’s a Grinch and we aren’t going to pay attention to him ;)

Let the recovery begin!
