I Voted

I have been fighting with myself for the last several days about who to vote for.  I know I said I decided I was going to vote for Barr but as I’ve been out and about I’ve been talking to different people (You’ll be shocked I’m sure but I love to talk to people and I swear I could strike up a conversation with a deaf mute) anywho everyone I talked to was voting for McCain.  Everyone.

As you all know I live in Florida, a ‘battleground’ state that now has a chance to go either way.  Usually Florida goes Republican so voting for Barr would have been a symbolic vote for me.  (I’ve decided I am straight down Libertarian and have never voted Democrat in any major election) BUT….I don’t want McCain to win.  I don’t even want him to win a little bit as a matter of fact I want him to LOSE.  After a lot of thought I realized that if I voted for Barr and McCain won it would be partially my fault (on the flip side if I vote for Obama and he is the socialist lefty that I fear I’m screwed and I just sold my sold my soul to the devil) but ultimately there were several things I do like about Obama and so I played my ‘you have to choose’ game and decided that if I had to choose between just Obama and McCain I’d choose Obama.

So….I voted for Obama.

Now I’m going to have to make up for it by becoming rabidly libertarian for the next four years ;-)

PS

I’m sorry Bob :(

Bob will understand. More people who don’t like the McCain/Palin issue platforms need to consider that not voting at help still helps them.

Congratulations on getting your vote in early and making it count.

I feel like I’m getting to this party late…

Thank you, birdie. Seriously, I think you know how invested I am in seeing Obama win. I promise, if America turns into a giant collective, you can blame me.

Now I have to spend the next 8 (not 4) years convincing you to lean Democrat… ;)

Here in the Great White North we ran into that very issue, except the NDP leader was WAY stronger than the Liberal guy. So what happened? Conservatives ended up getting more freaking seats.

If Obama gets in and we’re still stuck with Harper … I think hell froze over.

Why would I go the “toldjaso” route? This is about inclusion and progression, not gloating. I’m happy for your decision, yes, but I would never use it as an opportunity to jump up on a soap box.

    :)

Y’know there have been a few of us who have cross-commented on differing views over a few blogs on this election and we’ve disagreed quite loudly on some blog entry, but it hasn’t got nasty the way political discussion usually does. Opposite views have been stated, but no bad feeling. Whichever waythe bloggers decide to vote, it’s been a real pleasure debating with you all over the run-up to the election.

Wow didn’t see that one coming (no sarcasm font here).

I knew we’d get you sooner or later. Ha, kidding. Seriously, though, thanks for doing your part for the United Socialist States of America.
