Why McCain Just Won the Election
I’ve calmed down now (see other hyperactive post). As I have mentioned before, McCain needed a woman on the ticket to win. Now that he has picked a woman, a woman younger than Obama and ‘new’ to politics, he has won the election. Putting politics aside (because really, who cares about politics in an election) Obama was the ‘change’ ticket…he was young, not part of the establishment, and had the potential to be a White House ‘first’. Obama and his fans portrayed McCain as antiquated and one of the good ol’ boys who would bring nothing new. WELL. Now McCain has his own ‘first’ on the ticket - Palin is younger than Obama and she has only been in politics for two years so she brings change.
I know, all good and well but that doesn’t mean McCain will win. BUT here’s what will do it. A lot of people don’t like change. Why do you think only white men have made it onto a national ticket up till now? Because people like things to stay the same…or at least to change slowly. That is why McCain will win…he’s going to let people feel safe and progressive all at the same time. They’ll get to keep their white guy and feel like they’ve moved the country forward by getting a chick in the White House.
Brilliant strategy.

I don’t know. I see it as kind of transparent. He’s trying to make history himself. And did you hear his comment on this being the week of the anniversary of Women’s Sufferage? Kind of like Obama’s nomination on the anniversary of King’s speech.
It terrifies me that your prediction is very likely correct.
I can’t say that I agree with you on this one.
My hunch is that McCain wanted Lieberman and that he was pressured to not use him. I don’t see how she is going to really help him win the election honestly. She doesn’t have any name recognition whatsoever and that could very well hurt him.
On the plus side (for the party, that is), she is a staunch conservative, pro-life, female, and has a child in the military and another with Down’s Syndrome.
What does McCain take us for? Everyone knows why he chose her.
I agree. What’s scary about Palin is that although she is a she, that’s about the only thing about her that makes the ticket progressive. She’s like the epitome of a good moral, conservative, Republican mother-figure. But at the same time, I fear that there are plenty of woman voters in this country who are so blindly feministic as to vote for the McCain ticket now, solely because there is a woman on it, with no regard to the fact that Palin might actually be as bad as or worse than McCain in terms of policy.
I don’t think so. I think most people are able to see through the tactic. Also, what change does she really bring? Other than being completely green, none of her ideas are new. None of either of their ideas or plans are revolutionary or will change the White House as we know it.
It might work for some, but I don’t think it’s what will win the election.

I think when you get down to it that women want Hillary Clinton to be the first female VP or female President. Palin upsets females because she is not as qualified as Clinton is. I don’t know who will win but hopefully things will get better in our country.
