Chuck Baldwin for President

Published by eclecticbird at 9:09 pm under Miscellaneous Edit This

For those of you wondering , who the heck is Chuck Baldwin?…he’s the presidential candidate for the Constitution Party.  The what?  The Constitution Party…I know it doesn’t get the kind of play that the Green Party or Libertarian Party and definitely not the play of the Republican or Democrats but it’s another party and another choice.  A lot of people feel like McCain and Obama aren’t good choices, and I’m not disagreeing.  So…let’s talk about the other choices.  (and please don’t tell me there is no point voting for anyone else because as long as people say things like that then there won’t be)

The Constitution Party

For all the information you ever wanted about the Constitution Party check out their website.  If you aren’t feeling that froggy I’ll give you a little run down.

They want to get rid of a lot of the federal taxes (including income) and use taiffs.

They think a lot of government spending on things such as health care, education, and welfare are unconstitutional.

Wants the government to have a noninterventionist foreign policy (they don’t bother us we don’t bother them kind of approach).  Bye-bye NAFTA, WTO, and UN.

More restrictions on immigration…you have to be useful or you can’t come over.

Against euthanasia, abortion, same-sex marriage, pornography, government support of gambling, BUT the death penalty is ok.

Wants to repeal amendments sixteen and seventeen.

Chuck Baldwin

If you want specific information about Chuck you can find his website here.  If you aren’t feeling that interested I’ll give you the bits about him that I found the most interesting.

He’s a Baptist minister in Pensacola, Florida.  (I find this interesting because I love Pensacola)

He’s married with three children.

He doesn’t hold any political office.

He has his on radio show and is an “accomplished author”.

His video (on the site mentioned above) points out that McCain and Obama are actually a lot alike.  Hadn’t really thought about but he is right.  Obama isn’t a good ol’ boy in the political sense the way McCain is yet simply because he isn’t as old.  BUT if you look at his history…he’s been playing this political game most of his adult life and has been climbing the political ladder the entire time.  He’s just managed to do it faster than most.

Do I really want him to win?  Is he the candidate I’ll vote for?  No.  But it is nice to have a choice, isn’t it?  What do you know about him and/or the Constitution Party?  Are you a fan?  If you are I’d love to hear more about why you think he’d be the best choice for our country.  If you have a specific reason for hating him, I’d like to hear about that too (just because I can’t imagine him being influential enough to have made  anyone actually hate him yet)

I posted on my blog the other day that people shouldn’t expect a third-party spoiler this year. The effect of third-party candidates has been historically overrated. Hard to imagine there’s room on the right of Bob Barr’s Libertarian Party but Chuck Baldwin is looking for it
