Why is the Government Bailing out Businesses?
The latest in the alarming trend of government bail outs are Freddie and Fannie. For the full story check out this article and then come back to my rant. I agree with the opening paragraph, that this isn’t what the American government is for. Why should we bail out these institutions? Heck why were we backing them to begin with. As the article also points out, foreign governments felt secure in investing in these obvious disasters waiting to happen just because we were backing them. Silly us. I know that it could have sent the financial market into a depression, but really…don’t you think it is just delaying the inevitable? I guess what it boils down to is I really wish politics would just get out of business all together and business would get out of politics. Never gonna happen though, right?
