Flag Pin = Good Candidate

Published by eclecticbird at 11:20 pm under What?! Edit This

If a flag pin = good candidate then I’m in the wrong country.  According to this poll around 40% of those polled think a presidential candidate should always wear a flag pin and a total of around 90% think a pin should be worn at least sometimes.  WHAT?!  This is what our fellow Americans think is important.  Really?  The other part of the poll shows that the majority of those polled also think the founding fathers would be disappointed with our country.  That I can get behind as I see the Constitution trampled to bits on a regular basis, but the pin thing? Geesh.  Why is that even on a poll.  I want someone to call and ask me that stupid question so I can explain to them the issues I’m actually concerned about.  Oh wait.  If anyone were to ever talk about the issues something constructive might happen with this campaign and we might eventually see some change in government policy.  We wouldn’t want that to happen.  Focus on the pin.  Flags, good.  Flag pin = good candidate.  Right.  Crazy world of politics indeed.

THIS is why we are where we are now. NON-ISSUES are becoming the topic du jour. It keeps us all busy while the real issues grow bigger and bigger & swallow us all while we are busy staring at the candidates lapels.

Wow–thank you for this! History is full of what happens when the empry symbol comes to represent “the good citizen”–too bad we don’t teach history anymore, huh?

I stand an applaud you for this post! I agree. Since when did wearing a flag pin (usually made in China too hehe) became a requirement to run for office? It’s amazing how many people are offended when politicians aren’t wearing them - do they have NOTHING better in their lives??
